Poker Documentary Casting Call!!

Casting agent realitywanted is looking for poker players for a TV documentary.

If you’re between 18 and 27 and “live as a poker player” (whatever that means), you could become the new documentary star.

Judging from the description on the casting agent’s web site, they’re probably looking for something a little more spectacular than your regular online grinder geek:

“Do you have unique circumstances which motivate you to play and win money?  Do you participate in underground games?”

If you think you have the required star quality, application closes on May 31, 2025.

Bloomer of the Week– If you can’t beat them, join them!!

Last night I found myself at Legends Burger House in San Pedro, Belize trying to qualify for the upcoming Belize National Championship of Poker.  Legends was hosting a satellite to the main tournament that drew a large crowd of 22 players, all of which were “making it rain” rebuys.  I was having a blast at the game (probably too much fun), when an all too familiar scent filled the air….. you guessed it, I BLOOMERED IT for no apparent reason at all!!  The point of this weeks Bloomer of the Week is not to tell you about how I “Bloomered” the tournament, but rather what happened afterwards.  After I was taken out by my adversaries at the table, I made up my mind that I would really press the side bets and put money on certain players.

I was going to have to bet on the very people that took me out of the tournament!!  I decided that it was better to join them and try to make some money!!

I put several hundred dollars worth of side bets on a few of the players that I thought had the best chance of winning and making me money.  It just so happened that a couple of them were low stacks.  I went with my gut and placed the bets….. what do you know, the very people who took me out of the tournament won me a ton of money once I decided to bet ON them instead of AGAINST them!!  What a good turn of luck!!  I won more money in the side bets then I could have made had I not “Bloomered” away my tournament chips.  So to those that took me out of the tournament, I want to thank you for coming through for me in the side bets….. you know who you are!!!

I also want to wish all the San Pedro players good luck that are going to the Belize National Championship of Poker.  The PIT will be on site reporting the results to all you loyal PIT Crew Members!!

2025 NBC National Heads Up Poker Bracket Contest

Submit free bracket for your chance at $1000 in prizes

To find the link to submit a bracket, scroll down to the "Rules" section.

One of the most exciting, fun poker tournaments of the year is less than 24 hours away, and cardplayer wants to help build the excitement and give our readers an extra reason to root on their favorite players.

The 2025 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship is tentatively scheduled to kick off Friday at 1 p.m. PT, and we're hosting a free NBC Heads-Up bracket contest for our readers to submit their predictions. What's more, whoever makes the best picks and tops the leader board can win a share of around $1,000 in prizes. The top 10 finishers on the bracket leader board will snag prizes. (See the full list of prizes below.)

Once the tournament begins, you can follow along with cardplayer's live updatesfrom the event to find out how you're doing. We'll periodically announce the leader-board leaders in our live updates, so you might see your name (or screen name) in our live coverage! You also can visit ourNBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship landing page to get information about the event and view previous years' brackets for players' track records in the event.

RULES:

Go to the bracket website here and click "Predict It!" in the upper-left to submit your bracket

The tournament is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. PT on Friday, March 5, so that's the deadline for bracket prediction submissions. (If the event starts earlier, brackets submitted after the event starts will not be counted.)

All you have to do is pick a winner for each single-elimination match. (Since they're single-elimination, you don't need to type in anything in the "Score" field.) The final heads-up match is a best-of-three game, so please enter a score there to be used as a possible tie-breaker.

Each bracket's score is determined by adding 1 point for each correctly predicted first-round game, then doubling for each additional round (for instance, 2 points for second-round games, 4 points for third-round games, and so on). In the event that multiple people end with the same leader-board score and the same tie-breaker answer, the winner will be determined by the bracket that had the most correct players in the Final Four (and, if still tied, the Elite Eight, and so on). If that final step doesn't resolve a tie, the tie will be broken through a random drawing.

Get Paid To Show Up To WSOP 2025

If you win a WSOP seat on UB you’ll receive $1000 for just showing up to play – at least!

UB Poker throws in a really interesting offer in the fight over online qualifiers to the 2025 WSOP Main Event.

Each player who qualifies through UB will receive a $1000 cash bonus just for showing up (and playing in UB gear).

In addition, for each additional player who qualifies on UB, the cash bonus per player is increased progressively. In the end the whole bonus is spread out over all UB qualifiers.
Progressive increase of bonus prize pool

Extra cash for ITM finishers

From this bonus prize pool, 75% will be split equally among all participating UB qualifiers. The remaining 25% are reserved for UB players who make it into the money.

Those 25% extra may turn out be a load of money, depending on the circumstances. Have a look at UB’s own example:

“If 52 players show up and play for Team UB, the total prize pool will be $260K ($5000 x 52 players). 75% of the prize pool will be shared equally by all 52 participating players and they will receive $3,750 IN CASH ($260K x 75% divided by 52 players). If 2 of these players go on to cash in the main event, they will each receive an additional $32,500 IN CASH ($260K x 25% divided by 2 players). If nobody cashes in the main event, all 52 players will equally share the entire Progressive Prize Pool and receive $5,000 IN CASH.”

Summary

In short: The more players who qualify to the 2025 WSOP on UB Poker, the more cash each of them will receive for showing up to play, wearing UB gear.

And if you dress up as a roman emperor, you’ll get a double bonus. No you won’t.
