Pedro’s Wednesday Poker Tournament Reveals New Tournament Champ!

jeff sippWednesday’s Poker Tournament at Pedro’s Poker Room shed light on a new up and coming poker player, Jeff Sipp.  The tournament began with 8 players all gunning for the top spot.  Tim “No Banana” was the first player to fall, doubling Jeff up to give him the early lead.  Robbie was soon to follow him into the losers lounge with his two pairs unable to stand up against Jeff’s set of 4’s.   The large chip stacks rested with Scot and Jeff as the play went to the bubble with Jason and Doyle as the short stacks.  Scot had the largest stack and made the age old mistake of saying, “there is no way in hell I am going to bubble”.  Has anyone seen this movie before?  Scot slowly got chipped away in a long bubble match to eventually make the walk to the losers lounge as the unlucky “Bubble Boy”.  Jason was soon to follow when his (K9s) was unable to crack Jeff’s (99).  With the head’s up match set with Doyle and Jeff, you just know that there are going to be fireworks.  In the end, Jeff’s (AJ) was able to beat Doyle’s (10-10) thus crowing him champion!!  Don’t forget about Pedro’s Poker Room cash game this saturday and Tournament this Sunday.

NBC’s Poker After Dark Has Saved the Best Season For Last!!!

NUP_133205_0003NBC's Poker After Dark has saved the best for last. The finale of the fifth season is going to feature two weeks of high-stakes cash-game action, and it all starts tonight at 2:05 a.m.

The theme is aptly named "Railbird Heaven," as the players seated at the table are among the fan favorites. The lineup includes Patrik Antonius, Daniel Negreanu,Gus Hansen, Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, and Phil Hellmuth. The buy-in is a minimum of $100,000 and a maximum of $250,000. The blinds will start at $200-$400, but will increase to $300-$600.

The trading of giant sums of money won't only be relegated to the poker table, as the players will engage in hefty prop bets, adding to the overall sickness of the session. The match will begin airing on NBC late tonight/tomorrow morning at 2:05 a.m., and will continue for four more consecutive nights in the same timeslot. A special "Director's Cut" episode will air late night Saturday at 1 a.m., right after Saturday Night Live. The players will redraw for seats and continue with another week of cash games.

“Isildur1″ Wins Two $700,000+ Pots on Full Tilt Poker

Isildur

Remember when a $700,000 cash game pot was a really big deal? Remember the buzz when Di “Urindanger” Dang won a $700k+ pot against Tom “durrrr” Dwan?

“Urindanger” held the record for winning the largest ever online cash game pot until someone called “Isildur1″ came along.

“Isildur1″ has been involved in all five of the biggest ever cash game pots on Full Tilt Poker, and they have all taken place over the past month. The largest, a $1.35 monster against Patrik Antonius (that “Isildur1″ lost), took place in late March.

Anyways, after a bit of a breather over the past couple of days, the “Isildur1″-inspired action on Full Tilt Poker has fired up once again.

“Isildur1″, as always, has been easily able to find some action.

Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies decided to challenge “Isildur1″ once again earlier today. The results were disastrous for “Ziigmund”, who dropped over $1.9 million dollars in just 1,124 tracked hands.

Brian Townsend and “Isildur1″ are currently slugging it out on Full Tilt as well.

According to highstakesdb, “Isildur1″ is currently up over $1.74 million dollars on the day, Townsend is up about $368k, while “Ziigmund” is down over $1.9 million.

The “Isildur1″ vs “Ziigmund” and “Isildur1″ vs Brian Townsend battles have produced SIX pots in excess of $600k so far today.

Two of the pots, as mentioned, were over $700k in size. Both involved “Isildur1″ – one came against “Ziigmund”, and one came against Brian Townsend. Here is a recap of the hands:

1. $787,999 pot, “Isildur1″ vs “Ziigmund”.

“Ziigmund” has the button. Prior to the hand, “Ziigmund” has about $400k in his stack, while “Isildur1″ has over $800k.

The two players get into a raising war pre-flop. There is already $160k+ in the middle when the flop comes:

2c-10h-Qc

“Isildur1″ leads out with a bet of $125k, “Ziigmund” pushes all-in and “Isildur1″ snap calls.

The two players show:

“Ziigmund” – Ah-8s-Kh-Kc

“Isildur1″ – Jc-Ad-Ac-6c

“Isildur1″ is far out in front with his pair of Aces and nut flush draw.

The turn seals the deal for “Isildur1″, bringing the 5c. The river is the harmless 6s, and “Isildur1″ is shipped the nearly $800k pot.

2. $719,908 pot, “Isildur1″ vs Brian Townsend.

Townsend has the button and around $360k in his stack – “Isildur1″ has around $550k in front of him.

After some pre-flop raising, there is $18k in the middle when the flop comes:

3h-Ah-8h

“Isildur1″ leads out with a bet of $18,000, and Townsend just calls.

The turn brings the Qs. “Isildur1″ leads out again, this time for $54,000. Townsend pushes all-in and “Isildur1″ snap calls once again.

The two players show:

Townsend – 3d-3c-8c-7d

“Isildur1″ – Js-5c-Ac-Ad

Townsend is waaaaay behind in the hand, and must hit a one-outer (the 3s) to win.

The river is the 6c, and “Isildur1″ is shipped the $720k pot.

Cash Game at Nautica Has Full Ring

Nautica PhotoIs the Nautica game only 4-5 handed?  Not this week!  Perhaps this game is catching on as there were 10 players at this Monday’s game.  This low buy in$1/$2 blind format allowed for some new faces.  The big winner of the night had to be Fido’s own Tommy “the deuce”. Scot had an abnormally bad amount of luck as Tommy and a couple others all gave “The Sultan of Suckout” a dose of his own medicine.  The night ended with RJ and Tommy “the deuce” going heads up for all the remaining money.  Tommy called back to back all-in’s with (J5) and (10-2) and hit both.  Congrats Tommy!!  Nautica will host another cash game this coming Monday.
