The Streak Is Dead and Peter Killed It!!

First off, I would like to thank all of The PIT readers who have taken time out of their busy day (lol…for some of you) to read my first Bloomer of the Week Blog.  I have built this site to bring together various poker communities, to provide them with a forum to communicate about their games, and to provide them with extra “tools” to become better poker players.  Playing poker in Belize, I have the luxury of playing in several different games of various buy in amounts.  The largest buy in game on the island of San Pedro, and the one that I play at the most, is Pedro’s Poker Room.  That game is run very well and has been going on for some time now.  Pedro’s Poker Room is the PIT’s recommendation for anyone wanting to play high-stakes poker in Belize.  There is only one negative part of the game…….Peter, the owner of Pedro’s Bar.  Believe me, I have told him this many times and continue to visit his bar both to play poker and to drink jager shots.  My “beef” with Peter reared its ugly head like never before at this Wednesday’s Poker Tournament at Peter’s own poker room in San Pedro, Belize.  The tournament was a short handed aggressive format with 6 players and a high payout to the winner only.

I had been on a tournament winning streak of a lifetime.  I had cashed in 12 tournaments in a row.  Albeit many of them were third place finishes, it was still the feat of a lifetime for me.  If only I didn’t piss away a lot of my winnings in the cash games pursuant to the tournaments I would be a rich,rich man!!

 I had about 4000 in chips which put me right in the thick of things.  I found myself with (J10) facing a raise by Peter (AK).  I called and hoped to see a favorable flop.  The poker gods briefly shined their light on me, as the flop came J-3-3.  I was confident that Peter had overcards, so I made the fateful mistake of check-raising him.  He called my all-in raise with the overcards.  

I think we all know how this movie ends!!  Peter spiked his Ace on the river, thus ending the winning streak of my life.  Damn you Peter with your river Ace.  I suppose all good things must come to an end sometime.  I was just hoping it wasn’t to the same guy that I just had to pay a $200 bar tab to…..
