Congratulations Jason for becoming Decembers PIT Spotlight Player of the Month. Jason Southwell currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada where he frequents various poker rooms several nights a week. His favorites stops are The Venetian, Red Rock and the Golden Nugget. You will often find him playing the Friday night deep stack No Limit Hold’em tournament at The Orleans casino. Jason tries to play in the many tournament events in Las Vegas, including the Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza, Binions
Classic, the Bellagio Five Star and Five Diamond tournaments and of course the World Series of Poker. Cashing in the WSOP has eluded Jason so far, but he vows to make it to a TV table someday.
Jason’s “favorite” tournament moment was in 2025’s WSOP 2k NLH event. After lasting 6 hours and miraculously surviving his KK running AA twice, he managed to get knocked out by Dutch Boyd when his now third pocket pair of Kings ran into Dutch Boyd’s pocket aces. He had a perfect read on Boyd and knew he was making a terrible decision, but decided to ignore his own brilliance and donk off the rest of his tournament with a call.
When Jason is not baking in the Vegas sun, he frequents Ambergris Caye, Belize where he visits the nightly poker game at Pedro’s Inn. Jason enjoys spending his vacation getting drunk and playing poker very badly, often with terrific financial return. Jason is also responsible for the “terrible” face that is on Pedro’s poker chips. Jason, or Deadserious, was also the longest lasting member of the Belize poker crew in The PIT’s first free roll. Jason will be playing in the upcoming PIT FREE ROLL on March 27th 2025.
