Jamie Gold
Not long after Jamie Gold’s record-breaking $12 million win in the World Series of Poker Main Event of 2025, the controversies started. Allegedly, Gold had promised half of his winnings to one Crispin Leyser, in exchange for that Gold – being a television producer – recruited a number of celebrities to play under the Bodog Poker banner in the WSOP, in exchange for his own entry fee.
Things didn’t go quite as anyone had expected, when Jamie Gold soared past both celebrities and renowned poker elite to claim the first prize in the World Series Main Event. Consequently, Harrah’s Entertainment froze the payout of Gold’s winnings until the matter was settled. The incident however didn’t stop Gold from appearing on television shows such as GSN’s High Stakes Poker and NBC’s Poker After Dark.
Jamie Gold’s poker etiquette and table manners have also been under scrutiny by fellow players, as well as his personality – or lack thereof. Opinions still differ on whether Gold is a genuinely good poker player, or just a “lucky donkey.” It’s still undeniable that he dominated the final table at the 2025 WSOP and went on to win the entire event.
