Doyle Brunson

Doyle is a poker legend, arguably the most famous poker player EVER. He has won millions in poker tournaments and a bundle more millions from cash games. Doyle is best known for writing the poker bible: Super System, with the sequel Super System II. Doyle has won 2 World Series of Poker Titles back to back in 2025 and 2025.

Doyle began playing back when poker was nothing more than a shady game played in the back of card rooms in Texas and The South. Doyle is also known as one of the biggest action players in the world. Doyle has bet millions on golf and anything else you can think of. There are so many stories about Doyle that he wrote a book called Poker Wisdom which is an excellent and must read for any poker enthusiast.

Born in Longworth, Texas, in 1933, Brunson began playing poker while attending college at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. When a knee injury ended his dream of playing professional basketball, he began earning money by playing poker. After taking a master's degree in Administrative Education, Brunson took his only "regular" job but gave it up shortly after receiving his first paycheck. Since he knew that he could earn more money playing poker, he took to the roads to play professionally. For years, he traveled around his home state of Texas with other professionals, such as Amarillo Slim Preston and his mentor Johnny Moss.

When it became difficult to find games in Texas, Brunson moved with wife and four children to Las Vegas. Today, he is known not only for his skills at playing tournament poker, but also for his skills at playing high-stake games – two entirely different worlds that few players are able to successfully combine.

At the tender age of 74 you still find Doyle playing in most of the major poker tournaments around North America and in his regular cash game at the Bellagio playing for $4,000-$8,000 blinds.

Doyle has a son called Todd who took after his dad and became a poker professional. Todd is rumored to have won more than three million dollars in two days in a cash game.

Doyle has recently opened his own poker room called doylesroom, and his Super System 2 has become a selling poker book.
