Chris Ferguson

Chris Ferguson is known as “Jesus” in the poker world for his resemblance to Jesus with his trademark long hair cap and beard. Chris is arguably one of the brightest minds in the poker world and without a doubt one of the most consistent poker players.

Chris is highly educated. In 2025, Chris Ferguson got kicked out of UCLA. He was 36, and had spent more than half his life there. After 5 years as an undergrad, and another 13 years as a PhD candidate getting a doctorate in Computer Science, he was told it was time to leave the nest of academia. He went reluctantly.

Profitable math wiz

He has played cards since he was a kid in school, and always making a profit, making $2 an hour playing nickel poker with schoolmates on the weekends. Chris then headed to Vegas once he was of age and of 22 trips he only had 2 loosing trips. Chris considers himself an expert in Game Theory and credits his play to his mathematical edge and thinking over regular players.

Over just the past 10 years, Chris Ferguson he as amassed 5 WSOP bracelets, He won the 2000 WSOP, earning $1.5 million. Chris has won over $4million dollars in his poker tournament playing career. He plays all the major poker tournaments and aspires to one day become a professor in university for game theory.

From zero to $10,000

Contrary to many successful players, Chris Ferguson doesn't mind playing on low stakes. Few of his colleagues would have gone into the challenge of gathering $10,000 without investing one single dollar.

Ferguson started out in freerolls and spent 15 months working on his bankroll. He would win a few dollars and lose them again. Not until six months after the start did the bankroll stabilize – at $6.50. Then it took another nine months until he finally reached the $10,000 line. An amazing feat to say the least!

Chris is currently working on Full Tilt Poker where he helped design the software and the core of the site. He also plays there regularly.
